Primary Purpose:
Provides leadership and coordination to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program in assigned grade levels. Coordinate the design, implementation and support of local and state mandated curriculum.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Texas teacher certificate in appropriate content area
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Working knowledge of TEKS and state assessments
- Working knowledge of instructional technology and application
- Demonstrated strength in instruction, curriculum and lesson design/delivery
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Strong communication and training/presentation skills
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of exemplary teaching/instructional leadership.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
- Collaborate with principals and grade level leaders to plan for and monitor the implementation of the district curriculum
- Assist teachers in designing engaging lessons and units of study
- Focused classroom visits
- Model effective instructional strategies to improve student performance
School or Organization Morale
- Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
- Mentor and coach teachers in instructional practices
- Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students. Recognize excellence and achievement.
School or Organization Improvement
- Identify, analyze, and apply research findings (e.g., effective school correlates) to promote school improvement.
- Work with Principals and grade level leaders to analyze and disseminate data to determine instructional needs.
Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions
- Comply with district policies and state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
- Maintain accurate inventory of District elementary math materials.
Student Management
- Provide and support student discipline that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Professional Growth and Development
- Assist with management and training of the district universal and diagnostic screeners
- Assist with management and training of the district’s instructional technology programs.
- Coordinate with Campus/District administration to provide appropriate development opportunities
- Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.
- Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior. Serve as a role model for all campus staff.
School or Community Relations
- Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
