Description

Primary Purpose:

Provides leadership and coordination to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program in assigned grade levels.  Coordinate the design, implementation and support of local and state mandated curriculum.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate in appropriate content area

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment
  • Working knowledge of TEKS and state assessments
  • Working knowledge of instructional technology and application
  • Demonstrated strength in instruction, curriculum and lesson design/delivery
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Strong communication and training/presentation skills

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of exemplary teaching/instructional leadership.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Management

  1. Collaborate with principals and grade level leaders to plan for and monitor the implementation of the district curriculum
  2. Assist teachers in designing engaging lessons and units of study
  3. Focused classroom visits
  4. Model effective instructional strategies to improve student performance

School or Organization Morale

  1. Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
  2. Mentor and coach teachers in instructional practices
  3. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students. Recognize excellence and achievement.

School or Organization Improvement

  1. Identify, analyze, and apply research findings (e.g., effective school correlates) to promote school improvement.
  2. Work with Principals and grade level leaders to analyze and disseminate data to determine instructional needs.

Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions

  1. Comply with district policies and state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools.
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
  3. Maintain accurate inventory of District elementary math materials.

Student Management

  1. Provide and support student discipline that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
  2. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  3. Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Assist with management and training of the district universal and diagnostic screeners
  2. Assist with management and training of the district’s instructional technology programs.
  3. Coordinate with Campus/District administration to provide appropriate development opportunities
  4. Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.
  5. Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior. Serve as a role model for all campus staff.

School or Community Relations

  1. Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  2. Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  3. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.  Perform other duties as assigned.
